Todays serious business world expressed that characterizing the social venture is a difficult errand. As per OECD (1999, p.9) ââ¬Å"there is no all inclusive, generally acknowledged meaning of social enterprise.â⬠On the other hand, the OECD (1999, p.10) has depicted social venture as: ââ¬Å"any private action directed in the open intrigue, composed with a pioneering technique however whose principle intention isn't the augmentation of benefit yet the achievement of certain monetary furthermore, social objectives, and which has a limit of bringing creative answers for the issues of social prohibition and unemploymentâ⬠. Doherty and Thompson (2006, p.362) referenced in their article that social endeavors are associations which are looking for business answers for social emergency. These are should have been recognized from other socially-arranged associations. These additionally need to take activities that can elevate to networks yet which are not trying to be ââ¬Å"businessesâ⬠. In this regard, these last associations stay reliant on enrichments and gifts instead of develop genuine paying clients. As indicated by DTI report A Progress Report on Social Enterprise: A Strategy for Success (2003, p.6), social venture is such sort of business which reinvests its surpluses in the business or in the network as opposed to expands benefit for investors or proprietors. Drucker (Gendron, 1996, p.37) contended that social business visionaries are the individuals who changed the presentation limit of society yet Henton et al. WHAT IS TEMPEH AND WHY IT IS GOOD FOR ME?Tempeh is a traditional Indonesian soy product which is made by bindin g soybeans into a cake form and is traditionally wrapped in banana leaves. The fungus called Tempeh starter (Rhizopus oligosporus) is used to make it.Its rich in protein, vitamins and dietary fiber and is the only traditional soy food that didnt come from the Great Chinese cuisine.Nutritional facts per 100 grams:Calories: 193Protein: 19gCarbohydrate: 9gFat: 11gSodium: 9mgPotassium: 412mgCholesterol: 0mgAlthough its low on carbs it makes up for it in protein, having more protein than other similar meat substitutes.Compare equally sized tempeh and tofu and you will find that tempeh has more than double the amount of protein in the same size.Being so rich in protein, when you eat tempeh you can rest assured that it will last you a long time, making you feel full for a long period of time, thereby naturally helping you control your appetite. So, you wont be hungry for a while after a tempeh meal! This vegetarian substitute for meat can also be created from wheat, or in a combination of whe at and soy.It has a nutty taste, is dry and chewy, and packed with nutrients including magnesium, phosphorus and calcium!Soy-based tempeh is especially full of probiotics! Probiotics prevent diarrhea, reduce bloating and they can help with weight loss! They also have a role in improving your mental health, immunity and cholesterol levels.During a study done back in 2014, an experiment was conducted where 20 people had a high protein diet and where some of them were eating meat-based protein and others soy-based protein. Both groups reported weight loss and better appetite. It has been consumed in China for over 2000 years and is made by coagulating soy milk and pressing that into white solid blocks that can be from silken soft to extra firm.Of course, its always combined with different ingredients and spices that make it tastier to eat! There is a popular myth that the Chinese discovered tofu by accidentally mixing fresh soy milk with nigari, which is the part that remains from seawater when salt is extracted from it.It helps tofu to be firm and keep its form.Nutritional facts per 100 grams:Calories: 76Protein: 8gCarbohydrate: 1,9gFat: 4,8gSodium: 7mgPotassium: 121mgCholesterol: 0mgIts very rich in protein, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, fats and carbs. Its also very calorie-light, measuring 76 calories per 100g.A drawback for tofu is that it contains antinutrients, for example, phytates which reduce absorption of calc ium, iron and zinc.Keep in mind that cooking soybeans can negate some of these antinutrients.Sprouting protein will decrease phytates and trypsin inhibitors by up to 56% and 81% respectively. This is something that shouldnt be a concern for anyone who has a normal diet that is not based mainly on tofu.Tofu is somewhat controversial because a large number of soybeans that is used to make it is GMO (Genetically Modified Organism).GMO hasnt been proven to be harmful to people, but for those who want to do so can opt for organic tofu.Dont give much attention to controversies, they arent based on strong arguments, tofu is very safe for consumption.Remember that if you have any doubts or questions whether tofu is for you, you can always consult with your local doctor.Tofu helps a lot in bone health by preventing bone loss. Not only that, but it also helps in weight loss! You can buy it refrigerated or not, jarred, canned and dehydrated. Its also quite simple to make at home, gi ven the fact that not many ingredients are needed.Youll just need soybeans of course, water and coagulants like calcium sulfate.Add to that a little seasoning, rinse when you open a tofu block and its ready! You can also place it in water and put it in a fridge and save it for later! Just make sure that you change the water regularly since it can go bad very fast.If you make it right, it should taste great so then youll want to eat it all at once. When we take everything into consideration, we see that tofu is very protein filled even though its very light on calories.Cooking can reduce its nutritional value, but not in a large amount. It has a lot of health benefits including preventing bone loss, helping with weight loss, keeping your heart from disease, and preventing different types of cancer.Tofu is also very easy to make at home, so this source of protein is very accessible and is the food you want to make sure youve at least tried to implement in your diet. When we compare tofu to tempeh, where does each stand?Who will win in the battle?Lets have a look!TEMPEH VERSUS TOFU WHICH IS BETTER FOR ME?If you arent sure yet which one of these two types of plant-based protein is for you, lets compare them by some important factors.Hopefully, then you will have a clear picture of which factor is most important for you.1. ProcessingGenerally speaking, the less your food is processed the better.Tempeh is much easier to make since tofu is made from soymilk, so tempeh requires less processing and fewer steps for it to be ready for eating. When we talk about processing, tempeh wins this round.2. FermentationFermentation is a chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria or another microorganism. Fermented food creates good bacteria that your organism needs to digest better.Tempeh is a better choice here since its fermented so you will get all the benefits of fermentation.3. GMOMost of the soy-based products are genetically modified, meaning they come from unnatural s ources.Since tofu and tempeh are soy-products, they both have a tendency to be GMO.Luckily, they are very easy to make at home in your kitchen! They both absorb the flavor of the ingredients you cook with so both of them can taste amazing!Do a little searching and you can find awesome recipes online.4. DigestionTempeh is a better choice for those who have difficulty in digesting high-protein food like tofu, so it wins in this battle as well.Fermentation makes the soybeans softer, therefore easier to digest. Your digestive tract will thank you if you opt out for tempeh!5. Health BenefitsWhile tofu is high in protein and contains minerals, there is an important thing to take note of here and that is that tofu goes through industrial processing and is made from unfermented soy.Unfermented soy in large amounts can be dangerous long-term since it contains anti-nutrients which can mess with how your body absorbs nutrients.6. Nutritional ValueWhen in comparison we can see that tempeh has a lot more protein than tofu, as well as carbohydrates and fat.It brings with it more calories, but that means that you will feel full for a longer period of time. This battle is also won by tempeh.THE WINNERObviously, when we take all of these factors into consideration tempeh is a clear winner, at least for now, who knows what the future will bring. While both have great health benefits and nutritional value, in order for tempeh to be made, less processing is needed meaning that it comes out as a more organic protein-based product than tofu.10 OTHER OPTIONS FOR PLANT-BASED PROTEINTofu and tempeh are not the only sources of plant-based protein, not even close! If you want to see what else is out there, here is a list of 10 awesome options for you to make sure you get your daily protein intake!1. Black BeansThey are classified as legumes and they have a large amount of protein just like peas and peanuts. They protect the heart and can strengthen bone structure.Black beans are also known for lowering blood pressure and managing diabetes.Rich in fiber means that you will easily digest them. You can just pour these guys over your salad and boom you decorated your salad with food that is rich in nutrients!4. You can introduce them slowly to your diet, one tablespoon at a time.5. Coconut FlourGluten-free, grain-free and protein packed! Its made from dry coconut meat and is a natural product of natural milk production. Its relatively short on carbohydrates compared to other flours but has a lot of fiber and fat. Its the mix of fat and protein that makes it filling.6. Hemp SeedsThese guys come from the same species as cannabis but are a different kind, they dont contain a large amount of THC which is the psychoactive compound in marijuana. They are seeds of the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. They are very nutritive and a quarter-cup gives you about 50g of protein. They can also help with hormonal balance.7. LentilsAn edible legume, its a bushy annual plant known for its lens-shaped seeds. They help you burn fat faster and are a key player for great metabolism. They are rich in carbohydr ates, fiber and even magnesium!8. It has a lo t of protein and can be put in your favorite morning smoothie. No wonder its so popular, all this and it even can strengthen your muscles! This is a supplement that you should definitely give a go sometime. FINAL WORDPlant-based diets have been here for quite some time, but now with influencers promoting this kind of lifestyle, it has never been more attractive to think about creating your diet around food that comes from plants. You dont have to go vegan or vegetarian and fully drop meat, its enough for you to just make slight adjustments in your already existing diet.Tofu and tempeh are now very convenient for everyone, so there is no excuse not to try it. You can buy them premade or to make them at home.Tempeh won in the battle but just because the battle is won doesnt mean that you shouldnt give tofu a try, you really wont go wrong with any of these two.Its a common thought that eating plant-based protein is restrictive.Think of plant-based protein as a healthier and cheaper way o f getting more natural protein, not as a restriction or as an obligation and you will see positive results in your overall health very soon!

Hand Sanitizers vs. Soap and Water
Antibacterial hand sanitizers are marketed to the public as an effective way to wash ones hands when traditional soap and water are not available. These waterless products are particularly popular with parents of small children. Manufacturers of hand sanitizers claim that the sanitizers kill 99.9 percent of germs. Since you naturally use hand sanitizers to cleanse your hands, the assumption is that 99.9 percent of harmful germs are killed by the sanitizers. Research studies suggest that this is not the case. How Do Hand Sanitizers Work? Hand sanitizers work by stripping away the outer layer of oil on the skin. This usually prevents bacteria present in the body from coming to the surface of the hand. However, these bacteria that are normally present in the body are generally not the kinds of bacteria that will make us sick. In a review of the research, Barbara Almanza, an associate professor at Purdue University who teaches safe sanitation practices to workers, came to an interesting conclusion. She notes that the research shows that hand sanitizers do not significantly reduce the number of bacteria on the hand and in some cases may potentially increase the amount of bacteria. So the question arises, how can the manufacturers make the 99.9 percent claim? How Can Manufacturers Make the 99.9 Percent Claim? The manufacturers of the products test the products on bacteria-tainted inanimate surfaces, hence they are able to derive the claims of 99.9 percent of bacteria killed. If the products were fully tested on hands, there would no doubt be different results. Since there is inherent complexity in the human hand, testing hands would definitely be more difficult. Using surfaces with controlled variables is an easier way to obtain some type of consistency in the results. But, as we are all aware, everyday life is not as consistent. Hand Sanitizer vs. Hand Soap and Water Interestingly enough, the Food and Drug Administration, in regards to regulations concerning proper procedures for food services, recommends that hand sanitizers not be used in place of hand soap and water but only as an adjunct. Likewise, Almanza recommends that to properly sanitize the hands, soap and water should be used during hand washing. A hand sanitizer can not and should not take the place of proper cleansing procedures with soap and water. Hand sanitizers can be a useful alternative when the option of using soap and water is not available. An alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol should be used to ensure that germs are killed. Since hand sanitizers dont remove dirt and oils on hands, it is best to wipe your hands with a towel or napkin before applying the sanitizer. What About Antibacterial Soaps? Research on the use of consumer antibacterial soaps has shown that plain soaps are just as effective as antibacterial soaps in reducing bacteria related illnesses. In fact, using consumer antibacterial soap products may increase bacterial resistance to antibiotics in some bacteria. These conclusions only apply to consumer antibacterial soaps and not to those used in hospitals or other clinical areas. Other studies suggest that ultra-clean environments and the persistent use of antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizers may inhibit proper immune system development in children. This is because inflammatory systems require greater exposure to common germs for proper development. In September 2016, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned the marketing of over-the-counter antibacterial products that contain several ingredients including triclosan and triclocarban. Triclosan in antibacterial soaps and other products has been linked to the development of certain diseases. One day he observed an employee from the finance department muttering something under his breath and acting strangely as he walked by the security desk. He noticed this same behavior the following day.On the third day, there was a shooting in the finance department. The director of finance and her administrative assistant were shot and killed by the employee exhibiting strange behavior; the employee committed suicide prior to the arrival of the police. What should Sam have done prior to the incident? Should the security officer have notified anyone about the employeeââ¬â¢s strange behavior? What company policies do you think should be in place regarding situations similar to this?Explain your answer. I think that Sam should have stopped the man and talked to him, sometimes thatââ¬â¢s all it takes to change a bad situation and prevent future violence. Sam also should have notified not only his boss but also the finance director and supervisor and let them know what he witnessed. Mediation could have helped the situation and changed the outcome drastically. I think that company policies should include but not be limited to notify immediately the supervisors of distraught parties. The company may also invest in a company counselor or mediator who is trained in crisis prevention and can help disgruntled employees. Employeeââ¬â¢s my find that having someone to talk to is of great benefit to them and will result in happier employees. 2. Sexual Harassment Harriet is a new security officer working in the Foxwoods Mall. She has been working in this capacity for the past three months. She patrols the mall on the 3 ââ¬â 11 p. m. shift and watches out for the safety of the patrons. Ralph, a 40-year-old divorced male, is her supervisor.Ralph has been working mall security for five years and expects a promotion in a few months. Ralph has approached Harriet on several occasions in the security break room. At one point, he complimented her figure. On another occasion, he asked her what she was doing after work. Harriet feels this is unwanted contact between the supervisor and herself. What should Harriet do? Do you think these contacts constitute sexual harassment? What policies and procedures should this company have in place regarding this type of situation? Explain your answer.Harriet should first tell Ralph that his advances are unwanted and that if they do not stop she will report him. He may not realize that his advances are making her uncomfortable. If after she talks to him he does not stop them, then she should take it to his supervisor and let him/her know what is going on and how it makes her feel. Yes the remarks that he is making could be considered harassment and considered offensive. The company should have a strict law regarding sexual advances and harassment, which should include listed punishments for that type of behavior as allowed by their state. . Drug Use and Abuse James is a five year supervisory security officer with World Wide Security Network, which provides contract security for a large automotive plant in the metropolitan area. Their motto is ââ¬Å"Safety is our business. â⬠Due to his experience, James believes a subordinate but seasoned security officer is exhibiting signs of drug use. The security officer has increased absenteeism, often seems tired and unfocused, and his work does not meet minimum security standards for the company.James has spoken to his subordinate on several occasions but his performance has not improved. World Wide Security Network does not currently test its employees for drug use. James believes his security officer is abusing drugs. Do you think his suspicions are reasonable under the circumstances? What should James do? Do you think drug testing, especially of security personnel, should be required? Explain your answer. I feel that Jamesââ¬â¢s suspicions are reasonable given the circumstances and James has a right to be concerned. If the officer is working under the influence of drugs or alcohol, he is putting everyone at risk for injury of violence because he may miss something critical. James should notify his supervisor of what he suspects and request that the man be tested to confirm or deny his suspicion. I think that drug testing should be mandatory for security officers because their job is to protect and they canââ¬â¢t do a good job if they are under the influence. In addition to that I find that we would have more dedicated employees, less absences, and a better moral if people who are drug free are employed. How to cite Cjs 250, Papers
